Candy Crush Friends Saga, often referred as Candy Crush Friends or Candy Crush 4, is a video game developed by King.com. It is a sequel to Candy Crush Saga, the most popular match-three game on Facebook, iOS and Android and is the fourth variant of Candy Crush squels.
On March 1, 2017, a soft launch of Candy Crush Friends Saga was made available for download, but only in Mexico and Philippines. At that time, it had not received any updates so far. On August 23, 2018 was officially released for Windows 10; later on October 10, 2018, Candy Crush Friends Saga was released for all mobile users. The soundtrack was remastered an unknown amount of time before the release of the hard launch. As it released, the game remains unavailable on Facebook.
Candy Crush Friends Saga is the first and only game that no longer be run on the outdated Flash and now runs on HTML5.
Difference[]
Candy Crush Friends Saga sees players traversing through levels with the aid of characters both from previous games and some new friends as well who have not appeared in any previous game. It also features 3D character art and environments, new game modes, a whole new way for pre-level boosters to work (the Friends are pre-level boosters in a sense, and there are others as well) and a slower method to obtain free ones (instead of collecting free boosters through various quests and contests, at present you only collect gift boxes containing "tickets" and it takes a generally substantial number of tickets to obtain new Friends, costumes for Friends, and various boosters).
The animation of the Friends and the pre-levels game board is 3D in nature. The game board of the various levels works similarly to that of Candy Crush Jelly Saga in the sense that it’s a vertical winding path extending "into" the screen, with the levels appearing as colored ovals along the path, as opposed to the horizontal version with "rooms" in Candy Crush Soda Saga and the winding board-game like version of the original Candy Crush Saga
There are four episodes in the game that appear on rotation throughout. All four episode names are taken from the first two games: Lollipop Meadow and Bon Bon Beach from Candy Crush Soda Saga and Lemonade Lake and Chocolate Mountains from Candy Crush Saga.
All that said, Candy Crush Friends Saga remains at its core very much a classic Match-Three game, with the candies being the items to match. Most special candies that result from matches work essentially the same as in other match-three games in general and the other Candy Crush Saga games in particular, being the most similar to the second game in the series.

Mechanics[]
Special candies are created when combinations of four or more candies of the same colour are made. However, most of mechanics are identical to Candy Crush Soda Saga and Candy Crush Jelly Saga, except with only 2 differents:
- When swap a candy fish with wrapped candy, the fish becomes a wrapped fish, destroy a 5x5 area instead of 3x3 area around the targeted tile once.
- When a colour bomb and a coloring candy are swapped, all of the blockers will be cleared immediately, instead of only keep the two-layered honey in Candy Crush Soda Saga because it can only clear all the comb.
Other various "boosters" can be purchased, such as the lollipop hammer, which can clear one candy from the board, or the increased moves boosters.
Blockers also appear in levels and act as obstacles. These include the unmatchable and resistant to special candies liquorice swirls, the Hazelnut Crunch that require a lot of multiple matches to eliminate. The board may also contain liquorice locks and marmalade, which hold candies in "cages" that cannot be moved; said candies cannot be moved until they are matched.
Gameplay[]
Just like other Candy Crush games, the game is a variation of "match-3" games, such as Bejeweled. Each level has a different shaped grid filled with candies of two to seven different colours (yellow, red, purple, blue, orange, cyan, and green) and often obstacles (better known as blockers). The basic move of the game consists of swapping the positions of two candies to align sets of three of the same colour, whereupon they are crushed, causing candies above them to collapse into the space left behind, often resulting in chain reactions. Moves and alignments must be horizontal/vertical. The level's objectives must be met before the player runs out of moves.
Level and level types[]
In Candy Crush Friends Saga, there are five level types exist in the game, including:
- Animal: First appeared at level 1. The player is given a set number of moves and must find the certain amount of animals that was hidden by clearing frosting.
- Octopus: First appeared at level 5. The player is given a set number of moves and must free all the octopuses in gummy tiles.
- Cookie: First appeared at level 21. The player is given a set number of moves and must dunk all the cookies into the brown chocolate river.
- Jam: First appeared at level 61. The player is given a set number of moves and must spread the jam on the entire board.
- Heart: First appeared at level 41. The player is given a set number of moves and must make the hearts move their ways along the track to the mold.
If the player succeeds in reaching the goal, the game does a "Sugar Crush", starting an automatic bonus round where the player's remaining moves are used to increase the score through creating various special candies on the board. If the player doesn't meet the goal of a level, a life is deducted. The player is given a default number of five lives, with each life restored after half an hour. The player has the option of asking friends for more lives, using gold to restore lives, or buying a special item that expands the number of lives the player has by default.

- On November 26, 2018, Candy Crush Friends Saga was chosen as the fan-favorite game on Google Play's Games Awards 2018.
- As the gap between the soft launch and the hard launch exceeded one year, this game can be said to be by far the "most delayed" game in the Candy Crush series to date.
